Other Oklahoma property tax rules worth knowing

  • To get the veteran property tax exemption, a veteran must be an Oklahoma resident who was honorably discharged and has a 100% permanent service-connected disability. Certification comes from the Department of Veterans Affairs in the U.S.
  • For a county with fewer than 300,000 residents, the board of equalization must set at least three dates on which you can appear in person to present evidence. No final decision can come before you have missed all three.
  • A measure from a January 2025 Senate session, proposal SJR 10, would amend the constitution and spare all honorably discharged veterans any property taxes. At that release, it remained only a proposal, and it still required legislative approval plus a ballot vote.
